Always wanted to learn how to light a friction fire, or want to deepen your knowledge of tending a smokeless fire? Maybe you’ve considered joining Wild + Alive, but are too busy... Join our day-long Fire Making workshop as part of our Wild Emergence: Spring Workshop Series!

In this workshop we will:

  • explore the origins of human relationship with fire;

  • introduce different fire lighting techniques;

  • learn about tending a smokeless fire;

  • practice making a coal with pre-made bow drill kits;

  • have the opportunity to go deeper into certain fire lighting techniques e.g. faro-rod, flint + steel;

  • participate in a personal fire challenges (choose your own technique: matches, faro-rod, friction).

Beginner friendly. No previous experience necessary.

What to bring? Participants will need to bring their own lunch, water bottle and whatever else they need to be comfortable outside for the day e.g. appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather/terrain, camping chair etc.
