Rabbit Processing

Last week at WOLF Kids, the older kids processed a rabbit.

We shared stories about our experiences with rabbits and about the medicine they carry. We sang a song, shared gratitude and prayers, and offered sage and tobacco to give thanks.

Then the kids found a tree in the forest to hang him up, eviscerate the guts and organs, and prepared his body for cooking.

Bow drill fire was made, a tripod with a big pot was set up, vegetables were chopped, and a broth was made. The rabbit was first roasted over the fire and then added to the stew.

A special mentor for the kids broke his collarbone recently and the kids chose to deliver the stew to his fridge, which he was grateful for 😋
