Kyle Koch
Adult Programs Instructor
Kyle Koch is a former IT software technician turned nature nerd. Since leaving the office in 2011, Kyle has dedicated his life to helping others reconnect with the natural world. His journey into nature connection started at Wilderness Awareness School in 2011 where he would spend the next 6 years learning, living and ultimately teaching.
He has now been facilitating transformative experiences in nature for well over a decade: inspiring youth and adults to connect to their gifts through exploration, play, and curiosity. Kyle has taught nature connection practices to folks aged 4-74 in a multitude of environments all over North America. He has extensive experience in animal hide tanning, plant ID, shelter building, fire practices, bird language & ID, natural movement, and community practices.
Kyle is also a seasoned movement coach with a background in parkour, martial arts, and wilderness survival. He is a Senior Coach at Evolve Move Play where his coaching emphasizes adaptability, creativity, and the importance of play. He believes the combination of nature skills, movement and community practices can help us create a more meaningful life. His favourite hobby is foraging for food through parkour and natural movement.
Kyle is also a new dad, and can often be found on parkour adventures with his toddler strapped to his chest, jumping over logs and climbing trees. He lives in a land-based community near Pemberton where these nature connection and community practices are part of his everyday life. He is stoked to join his long time friends at Thriving Roots and build new connections around Victoria.
