Corina Fischer

Youth Programs Instructor

Corina Fischer (they/she) is a queer settler of Swiss, Dutch, and German ancestry who grew up on Lukwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ territories. From a young age, Corina always wanted to be spending time outside, and picked up many skills and bits of knowledge through many years in Girl Guides, and later adult wanderings. They are a keen hiker, camper, backpacker, forager, swimmer, and paddler, and take great joy from examining maps and trip planning.

Following their years leading with Girl Guides, Corina worked in OSC and Summer Camp programs before becoming a mentor at Wise Earth Forest School from 2022-2024. While at Wise Earth, they most loved to teach about fire keeping, getting to know plants and animals, and shelter building.

Corina is also a multidisciplinary arts practitioner who graduated from UVIC with a BFA in Theatre in 2021. They value decolonial and land-space-place based ways of knowing and learning; radical, collaborative, and care based forms of creativity. Recent arts based projects include working with incarcerated artists at William Head Onstage, and their performance art/photography project “The Great Camas Walk”, which will be exhibited at Cedar Hill Rec Center Gallery this April.

Corina is so excited to join the Thriving Roots village alongside so many amazing mentors, and can’t wait to get back into the woods with youth.
